Steven Chernicky, the owner of Lilliput Play Homes, created his first home when looking for a special playhouse for his daughter. When he didn’t find what he was looking for, he decided to design and build it himself. It was the start of the Finleyville, PA-based company. Now, nearly 30 years later, their heirloom-quality homes are shipped and constructed around the world to schools, parks, play areas, child care centers, hotels, and resorts.

Lilliput’s play homes include structures that are pre-designed to look like different styles of homes, including Mediterranean-influenced, cottage style, and traditional. The features that are included in these home include faux hardwood floors, skylights, and textured interior painting. Customers have the option to choose furniture and activities like slides, tunnels, and swings. The attention to detail is astounding, with true-to-life aspects, iron-hinged front doors, wooden shutters, and cedar shingles. Once a child sees their new playhouse, they’ll play for hours each day – and Steven has said that these homes make parents the hit of the neighborhood.
“These homes are large enough for several children to play in, and they’re of such high quality that you see them being passed down through families,” Chernicky said.
The Animal Hospital
While much of their business concentrates on homeowners, Lilliput also has collections available for businesses that are looking for the perfect way to keep customers’ children busy. The Animal Hospital, for example, comes with an operating table, kennels, washing station, and medicine cabinet. Accessories can be added to any of these homes, and the colors, sizes, features, and themes can be adjusted to fit a particular business’ needs. Lilliput has built homes in Hershey’s Chocolate World and partnered with national and local charities such as Make-A-Wish to create amazing homes for kids.
Lilliput will custom design a home, or you can choose from one of their in-company lines. Many of the homes can be put together by customers or a handyman, but Lilliput can also construct a new play home onsite. Customers looking for a particular design are invited to discuss details with Lilliput.
